Jeff Seamans was riding in his car through Rapid City, South Dakota, when without warning, he was struck with Sudden Cardiac Arrest. Jeff’s unresponsiveness prompted his wife & stepdaughter to immediately call 911. Three Officers arrived on the scene within a few minutes.
The first officer arrive was Kathleen Callery, followed by Officer Chris Hunt and Officer Michael Frybarger. Officer Callery began CPR compressions while Officer Frybarger brought the Philips HeartStart FRx AED to the scene. As soon as Office Frybarger attached the electrode pads to Jeff’s chest, it began to analyze for a shockable rhythm. On November 17, 2011, Medtronic, Inc. announced that Bain Capital would acquire Physio-Control in a deal worth approximately $487 million. Physio-Control is a leading manufacturer in the defibrillation and resuscitation markets. The Lifepak brand of AEDs (automated external defibrillators) and manual defibrillators is recognized worldwide. Brian Webster, present President and 20-year veteran of Physio-Control, will remain in his leadership role as Chief Executive Officer when the transaction is completed.
Bain Capital is a private investment firm with approximately $66 billion in assets, and previously purchased Physio-Control in the early 1990s, successfully taking the company public in 1995.
